Personal vs Private

It’s often a hard line to draw. As a public official you must often draw the line or act in a manner that may conflict with your personal views. As a law enforcement officer you are often challenged to protect those individuals’ first amendment rights or safety even though their messages may be counter to your values or beliefs.

Romans 12:10 says “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.”

Know that you will often be placed in conflict with your values or beliefs while performing your job. It’s good to remember that the rights you protect is not so much what you hear or see on that particular occasion, but rather the rights to freedom we all enjoy.
