Sergeant Nicholas G. Sottile, 48, of the Florida Highway Patrol, was shot and killed during a traffic stop on January 12th.

Sergeant Sottile had served his department for 24 years. He is survived is survived by his wife, daughter and son. His son is also a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol.

Chief Ernest V. Mendoza
, 54, of the Needville, Texas Independent School District Police Department was killed when his vehicle was struck head on by a drunk driver on January 19th.

Chief Mendoza had served his agency for 10 years with a total of 25 years in law enforcement. He is survived by his wife and seven children.

Trooper Jose A Rosado, 45, of the New York State Police was killed in a vehicle accident on January 24th.

Trooper Rosado had served his agency for 18 years. He is survived by his son and daughter.

Deputy Sheriff Alan Inzer, 43, of the Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed during the pursuit of several armed burglary suspects on January 25th.

Deputy Inzer was off duty when the incident occurred. He served his agency for 17 years and is survived by his wife, mother and sister.
