Lost Causes

I was reminded tonight that a lot of cops carry around a St. Michael medal (Patron Saint of Police Officers). Catholic or not, they are often gifts from family members or friends that mean more of a sentimental value. I have to admit that oftentimes, I felt like I should be carrying around a St. Jude medal. St. Jude is often referred to as the patron saint of lost causes: and there are certainly plenty of those in the daily life of a cop.

It always amazes me how much absolute social breakdown can be witnessed by one officer in one 8 or 10 hour period. It gets to you.

Just remember that although the medals are a great reminder; the real salvation of lost causes or patron protector of those of us who carry a badge is Jesus Christ. He is our salvation and protector. Trust in Him and He will be your shield and your victory over evil.
