Do Good Work!

“You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove”–James 2:18

I recently came across this scripture passage from Joel Osteen. His message was good but the scripture said something else to me that applied more to a public safety issue.

Have you ever gone to work and your heart was just not into the job? Have you gone through the motions but just really don’t care? Have you been on the job for a while and just want to “put in your time” and get out?

The above passage tells me that you have to have faith in what you do in order to do a good job. As the scripture states, faith and works “fit together hand in glove.”

Stress contributes to a large part of officer burnout. Don’t let the negative aspects of the job take away your faith. Don’t let the negative parts of the job be an excuse for just putting in your time.

Work on your faith, in yourself, in your duty and your oblication. The easiest way I know to accomplish this is to have Faith in God. Everything else will just fall into place if you have the desire to work with Him to make it happen.
