I’m not a very goor person to be talking about managing your money but I’ll try anyway.
Over the years I’ve watched careers of good cops and fire fighters destroyed because of over spending or improper spending. It’s almost as though there was some kind of unspoken law that said, “hey my friend has one of those, so I need one also”. I’ve seem police parking lots where there are a lot of the same kind of pickup trucks. I’ve seen several garages where the same kind of “harley’s” were parked. I don’t want to even think about all the guns I’ve seen in locked cases in the basements of their homes. (not their department issued weapons)
Now ad to that the fact that “public schools” aren’t free anymore and very kid it seems to be enrolled in some kind of sport or activity. And public safety personnel seem to always be helping one another build a new addition on the house
So what’s the problem? Well there really isn’t any problem as long as you got money for all that. But most cops and fire fighters don’t. But a lot of them do have second jobs and some even have third jobs.
You do the math: Too many bills, Too many hours at work with too little proper sleep, multiplied by too much pressure to keep up with the life style of others.
THE ANSWER: Learn to live the way “you” want to live, not the way others think you should. Be satisfied with what you’ve got, and learn to say “no”. Learn to worship “God” and all he can provide you and not the almighty dollar and what it can buy.
