6 Ways To Make Sure Your Family Will Support You

Law Enforcement Officers need suppoprt from as many different directions as possible and perhaps the greatest support can come from their family. But a problem comes when the family is “unwilling” to provide that support. Here are a six things the officer can do to assure his family will want to support and encourage him or her.

1. GIVE THEM TIME .. Make sure that you make time “just for them”.

2. LISTEN TO THEM .. Make sure that you pay as close attention to them as you do to people you encounter during routine car stops.

3. DO NOT TREAT THEM LIKE SUSPECTS .. Make sure you shift gears once you get home and remember that your family can’t be seen as the enemy.

4. (if married) MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN SEE YOU TREAT YOUR SPOUSE WITH RESPECT, HONOR and LOVE .

5. REMEMBER THEIR SPECIAL DAYS .. If possible make sure you go to recitel, graduations and play off ball games.

6. *TEACH THEM HOW TO KNOW GOD .. Pray with them and lead them in reading the Bible.

* this can only be taught if “you” know God.
