Sandhill Cranes

Those of you who are interested in crane migrations will want to check out this link there is a short commercial at the front but the review of the migration is good. March starts the spring migration of the Sandhill Cranes back north (at least it's considered north if you live in Nebraska) through that state.

Spring and fall bring some of the most spectacular migration roosts along the Platte River which winds its way from North Platte about 150 east to Grand Island. The largest accumulation of roosting occurs between Lexington and Grand Island.

This will be the first time in a number of years we won't be able to get back to get a peek at green grass and leaves on trees while checking out the cranes. But knowing that it's taking place 500 miles south of us does give hope of Spring's arrival here.
